Looks like the twins will be TWO BOYS!

Logan threw his hands up in the air and yelled YES! when we told them. Riley was stoked, Emmie said "No, I don't want two boys! I don't like boys!" We'll work on her.

So, the very stinky feet will outnumber the mildly stinky feet. Trust me, Logan's feet have a level of stinkiness unreachable by my daughters.

Logan - Riley, when God eats he doesn't get any crumbs on him.
Riley - Yeah, but he doesn't get hungry very often.

Emmie's getting some of her own back. This morning I caught her whispering to Logan "You're the only one who's a stinky boy." As in, we're non-stinky girls...

For the curious...

Next Monday (the 29th) I'm scheduled for an ultrasound, and hope to know what we have on the way. Currently, the majority of my home is "voting" (a vote with absolutely no influence) for a boy and a girl. Logan said today "but don't even think about putting one of the babies in my room!" But he's hoping for a brother and said "I know that when they come out they can't do anything but cry and sleep but when he gets bigger he'll do stuff with me."

In a step of HUGE progress, Emmie announced today that she's willing to give up her crib and is ready for a bed, and that the babies can have her crib. My unusual three-year old has been extremely attached to her crib and has fought off any mention of moving her to a bed thus far. I also told her I'm not buying any more pullups and she's going to have to learn to go potty on the toilet. She agreed that it's time and said she's ready. So we'll see how this goes. She really hasn't wanted to so far.

Riley said (about the twins) that she doesn't care what they are, she just wants one to take care of. We'll see how long that desire lasts after they arrive...

more Logan and Emmie

(overheard)

Emmie - I am NOT a human being!
Logan - Yes you are, Emmie.
Emmie - No I'm not!
Logan - Yes you are, you're a human being, Emmie.
Emmie - (freaking now) NO I'M NOT! I'M NOT A HUMAN BEING!

(I think she assumes that anything Logan calls her is mean.)

Yesterday I watched Logan lean forward in the van and very tenderly and sweetly rub Emmie's head and thought "How sweet!" just as I heard him say "Once Momma has the babies she won't hold you anymore, Emmie."

Gramma - Emmie, tomorrow I'm going to get on a plane and go home to New York.

Emmie - Am I gonna miss you?

Riley (at breakfast) - Let's not make this an ordeal. (Over who gets which Zoo Pal spoon.)

Riley (after driving down a big hill) - My ears have clouds in them!

I'm just too tired to blog. Aside from the fact that I spent December having/getting over bronchitis (it wouldn't quit) there's no energy left to record my children's lives. It's very sad.

Today Riley coined a new word. By mistake, I guess, because she corrected herself. She asked Logan, "Did you do that automagically?" Then corrected it to automatically.

We had a nice Christmas. It seems very long ago. My mom comes tomorrow to stay while Jeff's away in sunny California. I kept singing "California Dreamin'" today.

I'm writing like I'm tired. Short sentences are all I can handle. Supposedly I'm going to get more energy now that I'm in my second trimester. It's not kicking in yet. At least I can drink coffee again - at least usually.

We just came home from Awana and the kids are eating Clementines which they love because they can peel easily. Time for bed now (that's when I sing "it's the most wonderful time of the day" and they all say "Moh-ohhm!"
