Went to the library, didn't go so well. Brady took the comparative silence as a sign that he should vocalize. I gave him a black tin of mints that apparently looked to him like my cell phone. This is what he said, with it to his ear, for about five minutes, "HUH? Uh-huh. HUH? Uh-huh. HUH? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. HUH?"

Carson's latest words go something like this: diggy-diggy-diggy-doo. dubby-dubby-dooby-dibby-doo. gubby-gobby-gobby-gubby.

Or he (Carson) yells "baby-baby-baby!" at Brady. Which he does a lot.

This is Brady - he walks slowly and carefully while Carson zooms past. He's very proud of himself!

new favorite Loganism

Logan - (Singing) I love rock n roll, put another dime in the juicebox baby!

Brady was initially skeptical of his cookie

Mmm! A cookie the size of my head!

One of their favorite things to do is to climb up on things together. Sometimes this includes one pushing the other off.

The "just what I wanted" face

Riley's 9th birthday!

This is Brady's favorite spot. He climbs in and then settles gently like a bird on its eggs. Hilarious.

August in Arkansas

What's up with the weather? We had two cool days and now if it gets crazy hot again it'll feel like a betrayal.

I have five kids upstairs - 1 screaming bloody murder (Brady), 3 getting dressed, 1 calm and either sleeping or watching Brady scream (Carson).

And, just in case you haven't heard, I'm pregnant. 10 weeks. In anticipation of the questions, yes - it's a surprise. Yes - I'm fine with it. Yes - the kids are stoked. No - I wasn't planning to have one so close to the twins. Yes - Jeff is happy (if a little overwhelmed). No - I never really pictured myself with 6 kids. No - I wouldn't change a thing.

Good thing we got that Suburban.

Favorite fight of the day

Logan and Riley were fighting over a word pronunciation:

Logan - Just because you speak with an Arkansas accent doesn't mean I have to!
Riley - Oh, Logan, you don't even speak proper English yet.

Em (wistfully) - I feel, I feel a song in my brain.

Carson - Do-ahh wiggy wiggy wiggy boo. (at dinner, meaning something like "I like the pudding may I have another bite.")

One item of note: today was the first time my children, upon their own initiative, brought up breakfast in bed. Emmie and Logan snuck down and poured Cheerios for Jeff & me and very carefully, without spilling, put the bowls on a tray and carried them up. Logan said "I just want you to be able to sleep in for a while." Sweet boy! Emmie was very proud to have found the tray they used, all by herself.
