Crazy sayings

Talk about random. Emmie and I were resting on the couch together and she looked up and said "Momma, if I were a shell, would you ever pick me up?" I laughed and nodded. She said, "If I were that shell right there would you pick me up? If I were the shell and you were Emmie?" I laughed again and said yes, so she went on "and would you if I were that shell, that shell right there and you were Momma?" She is my queen random nut.

Yesterday, after a brief squabble that I was trying to get to the bottom of, Logan (in explanation of his own actions) actually said, "It was an accident! My mouth just flew open and it bit her!"

To be fair, I think he meant he was falling and his tooth hit Riley, or something like that. But in the moment, I just laughed and laughed. Riley was not amused at first.

Ahhh...

A peaceful moment. Right now I have the twins each in a swing (thank you Alicia) sleeping sweetly, Riley's reading and the other two are taking advantage of modern technology for a moment. Brady actually slept well again last night (2 in a row) and Carson has been sleeping through for going on two weeks now! Wow. Every morning I go in to check on Carson because I just can't believe he's okay and sleeping that late (until 7 or 8 each morning).

Everyone tells me they just can't imagine having two babies at once and I usually reply that I can't either. If I think about it too much it's overwhelming, but if I just do the next thing it's okay - lots of work but lots of joy. They are so great - not fussy babies, very sweet, and becoming very interactive. Carson pretty much smiles at me if I just look at him, and "talks" to me a lot - gooing and gahing all the time. Brady smiles a lot but thinks about it first, and is starting to talk to me more. He's been quieter, but very watchful...

I set up the second crib and actually bought some bedding...my family knows this is a big step for me to actually BUY what I keep going back to look at. A mixture of indecisiveness and frugality? Who knows. But I really like it - it just sort of shocked me all over again to see two cribs in the room. They've been sleeping in one so far. It's very cute. I'll put a pic on sometime but now we really need to school while the babes are sleeping.

By the way, I have to say that Alicia (the sister of a friend from church) has been a godsend. I never thought I really want two of everything - swings, bouncy seats, exersaucers, etc., but they are so helpful! (Plus she had twins a year ahead of me and knows some stuff...)

they have to be propped up but they are starting to enjoy the exersaucers that a friend brought over

It looks to me like Brady is trying to rap and Carson's not impressed.

I overheard Emmie say this morning to Brady, "Oh, Brady! I'm gonna teach you Spanish."

I said "what kind of Spanish words will you teach him?"

(The obvious answer) "DORA Spanish!"
